John Arbon Appledore Lace – Hangy Down
Appledore, another remarquable base by John Arbon. It is a rustic fiber blend that gives you a durable, slightly lustrous, colorful two-strand lace with a beautiful natural halo. All the fibers that make up this wool come from the nearby area of the mill. You get the durability of Devon Closewool, the personality and softness of Romney and the bounce of Exmoor Blueface. The color mixes are exquisite, complex and full of personality. A strong and durable yarn that lends itself well to all your projects. The lace can be knitted alone, doubled by itself or doubled with a fingering to obtain a DK (a kind of fingering-mohair without mohair:)
John Arbon Textiles is a family business from North Devon, UK. It is a spinning mill of human scale, producing yarns and fiber from materials sourced as locally as possible and reducing the production chain as much as possible. Also, the entire spinning mill uses Victorian machinery, which they have restored with passion and commitment. You can learn more about their history and mission by following this link .
